The hammer bros. has been in Mario games since Super Mario Bros. (1985). Since then, they have been some of the toughest enemies around! Unfortunately, their success is only shadowed by other enemies that Mario comes across. Here is why the Hammer Bros. are better than all of them.
GOOMBA: What do Goomba's do, you ask? They walk. They just keep on walking more than the energizer bunny. When do they stop walking? When they walk off of a cliff. Let me say that again. They are so stupid that they walk off a cliff! How do you defeat them? Just stomp on them once. They are so easy to defeat and takes no skill at all!
KOOPA TROOPA: Koopa's also just walk. The difference is that after you stomp on them, they go inside their shell and another stomp causes the shell to go all over the place. They are easy to defeat, but still better than a Goomba. Which is why Hammer Bros. are pretty much an evolved version of Koopa's.PIRANHA PLANTS: All you have to do when you encounter a piranha plant is wait. You play the waiting game for a few seconds for it to go back into it's warp pipe. Unless, you are able to kill it with a fire ball or another power up you have. You do not want to just wait when you are up against a deadly hammer bro!
Thus, the Hammer Bros. are so much better than these other characters! It's a bit sad when people are asked about a Mario villain (besides Bowser) and the first thing they usually think about is one of the three creatures I mentioned above. Unlike Goomba's and Koopa's, they don't just walk. They also throw deadly hammers at you! Sometimes they don't even take a break and they just keep on chucking them. Yes, it also takes one stomp on the head to kill them, but good luck with that. This is because they jump all over the place and sometimes when you go to jump on top of them they jump again and hit you, so you lose a life! Unlike the Piranha Plants, you do not just wait for them! If you wait they will hit you with a hammer and then get a good laugh when they watch you die! That sounds like a bad day!
Imagine coming home one day with a huge lump on your head. Your mom asks what happened and you say that a walking/jumping turtle threw a hammer at you! This excuse didn't work too well with me, but with Mario it was practically his life! Mario didn't worry about Goomba's or Koopa's, he worried about the dreaded Hammer Bros. Mario could handle Bowser just fine, as long as he doesn't bring in any Hammer Bros. to help. They are such meanie heads!
